HOKA Mile Section Selection Policy

The HOKA Mile event is designed to showcase an elite field of athletes in an exciting, competitive environment. To ensure a high-quality event, we have established the following heat selection process:

Automatic Qualifiers

Athletes who achieve the auto standard are guaranteed a spot in the field.

Early Invites

Some athletes have been invited or registered early based on their past performances and overall contribution to the competitive nature of the event. These athletes will remain in the first heat regardless of subsequent seed times.

Heat Assignments

1. First Heat:

   • The first heat will prioritize athletes with auto standard times, including those invited early.

   • If additional athletes register with auto standard times, some athletes with faster seed times may be placed in the second heat due to limited space in the first heat.

2. Second Heat:

   • Athletes with an auto standard who register after January 3rd may still qualify for the HOKA Mile field but may be placed in the second heat.

   • The second heat remains highly competitive, and performances in this heat are integral to the overall success of the event.

Important Registration Details

• Deadline: All athletes must be registered and fully paid by January 3rd at 3:00 PM to be considered for the HOKA Mile field.

• No late entries or payments will be accepted after this deadline.

Final Seeding Decisions

While this policy is designed to increase transparency into the seeding process, meet management reserves the right to make final seeding decisions. These decisions will be based on numerous factors to preserve the competitive integrity of the event.

We recognize that some athletes with faster seed times may be placed in the second heat. However, our goal is to balance the competitive nature of the event with logistical constraints and prior commitments.
